WATER CRISIS IN WEST VIRGINIA
Right after New Year one of the worst chemical spills happened in West Virginia. The spill happened in the Elk River. This river supplies the people in W. Va. with fresh drinking water. These causes abandon ship of using water in 9 counties. The people want “heads to roll” meaning that they want someone to pay for this. People say that politicians and the factories manager are to blame for the crisis. The people in the 9 counties are not to use the water for drinking, cooking or for bathing but only for flushing and fire emergency. The chemical will not be destroyed by boiling the water.  “The W.VA crisis reminds us about how dependent we are on cleaning the river for our health and security” Wrote a journalist. Governor Earl Ray Tomblin declared a state of emergency in the 9 counties that where affected. He also said “right now our priorities are our hospitals, nursing homes and schools.” People say that the government didn't do their job well and that they didn't control the tank with the chemical. They didn't ensure clean water. The people that are going to clean up this hug mess didn't set a date for when they are going to clean up everything.
